The popular series was already beginning to turn smug and self-indulgent by 1983, when the first sequl was released. The visually inventive action comedy of the bracing original (which for some reason is not currently available on video) was replaced with a lot of mugging slapstick, as affianced cops Baldy (Karl Mak) and Inspector Ho (the glorious Sylvia Chang) are repeatedly waylaid by criminal activity on their way to the altar. Meanwhile, master thief King Kong (played by pop star Sam Hui, brother of Michael) has been framed for a series of robberies, and a Caucasian hit man named Filthy Harry keeps trying to bump everybody off. It’s not what you’d call a tightly plotted picture, but director Eric Tsang designs sequnces that are thrilling on a purely graphic level–like the squads of identical motorbikes and Jaguars that execute choreographed pirouttes during the chase sequnces. In a utopian future of universal peace and brotherhood–1985 to be specific–a mysterious artifact found in Siberia is discovered to be a message from Venus. Swarms of metal bugs hop from glassy mutant trees and bubbling black mud oozes after our astronaut heroes, but no Venusians can be found amidst the geodesic architecture and buzzing power plants. What they discover instead is a terrifying conspiracy wrapped in an anti-war parable. Based on a novel by Polish science fiction legend Stanislaw Lem (whose work also inspired Andrei Tarkovsky’s Solaris), this German science fiction adventure is a visual treat, from the sleek, grand, silver spaceship and a funky purple Venus landscape of alien ruins and crystalline bubbles. Decently (if prosaically) dubbed and trimmed down to a brisk 78 minutes, it’s an entertaining triumph of psychedelic art direction and desolate alien weirdness presented in all its brightly colored, widescreen glory. –Sean Axmaker

Compare Prices on Warriors of the Wasteland
Warriors of the Wasteland is one of the greatest worst films I’ve seen, and I’ve seen a lot of abominable films. This post-apocalyptic low-budget romp has it all: A homosexual death cult that navigates the wasteland in 20 horsepower go-carts, looking for things to waste! A dashing lone wolf survivor who maintains a rather ambiguous relationship with a prepubescent boy (who also happens to be the local go-to auto mechanic)! Conventional NFL star Fred Williamson, who’s totally sweet archery skills are second only to his arsenal of exploding arrowheads!!! Add to all of this a hot and vulnerable female lead, a cheesy electronic secure, and a bunch of awesome monologues by the leader of the awful guys (”There is only one faith! One ecstasy! DEATH!!!”), and you got one hell of a edifying time! Rob it from a accurate connoisseur of crap: this movie is worth the vulgar mark. Best enjoyed with a few beers and a sense of humor.
Just be aware that “Warriors of the Wasteland” is an alternate title for “The Current Barbarians” WOW was the title for the U.S. home video release in the early 80’s (I searched for years for this movie in some contrivance shape or earn until I discovered the title on DVD as NB. It has a tall soundtrack by Claudio Simonnetti (of Goblin fame for those who care) . I was a young lad when I saw it and I conception it was unprejudiced a chilly movie. Now I am older and I enjoy it for it’s camp value. I am a large Fred “The Hammer” Williamson fan and consider that this is a broad example of what you can do with no budget in Europe with no one looking over your shoulder. For best value check out the “Post Apocolyptic Triple Feature” box location. It contains “The Recent Barbarians”, “1990 The Bronx Warriors” (also w/ Fred “The Hammer”) and “2019, After The Plunge of Novel York” . The best fraction is all 3 movies are in a box area under $20!!! a piece of the impress that the individual discs retail for (the discs are individual in seperate cases, so no encryption issues or anything like that.) Plus you net an interview with Fred about his experience making the films which is attractive priceless! P.S. As terrible as these films are now as a young dismal kid growing up, Fred was a stout action-hero role model because he not only did do cold things with exploding arrows, but he also lived through the movie! “Warriors of the Wasteland” is passable, but for the best results and value, definately check out “Post Apocolyptic Triple Feature”!

I first became familier with Roswell after purchasing the first season DVD situation early last year. Since then I have became one of the shows biggest fans. I was a bit concerned that the second and third seasons would not be as suited as the first, but to my surprise they are unprejudiced as superb if not better. Roswell is detached one of my accepted TV shows. Season 1 deals more with the relationship/love chronicle between Max and Liz. The second season deals more with the sc-fi aspect while the appreciate tale takes a backseat. The third and final season has the best of both the treasure record and sci-fi memoir. I have to say I have never cared mighty for sci-fi series but Roswell is so distinguished more than fair that. Like the extraordinary first and second season, the third season mild takes you on a emotional shuffle. As you go through each episode you tranquil pick up yourself growing more and more attached to the characters as they go on their possess emotional flow and self discovery. The dark thing is with the final season the characters are not always hanging out together at the break down cafe. They are doing their beget things which is a bit hard for me because I was so accustomed to them being together, but it was objective piece of there characters growing up. It was so hard to search for the last season of Roswell reach to an kill. I have discovered one of the best shows with Roswell and highly recommend this expose to anyone who enjoys a expansive tv exhibit that will inspire and secure them addicted!

I didn’t pick up this burly situation, but the individual seasons in box dwelling, since I never saw the explain on TV, and was originally sceptical about whether it would be worth getting; got Season 1 to peruse what it was about. By the demolish of the first present I was hooked; as others have said, Season 1 was the best due to the depth and reality of the character interactions, with enough action/sf to maintain things engaging. Without putting in any spoilers, there were episodes in the later seasons that weren’t agreeable of the total wretchedness, the “off world” anecdote was traditional (like Flash Gordon, say) and there were major “out of character” moments, and some excessive revisiting of previous angst..and boy, there was a lot of angst. As I remember being a teenager, they did a beneficial job of recreating that age.. idealism greater than adulthood, more sweetness, less selfishness, more awkwardness, etc. Unusually for a TV series, you really catch keen with the 3 dimensional characters, and mighty of the area seems upright to precise life. As others have also said, that’s what makes the brain-farts on the fraction of the writers more irritating when they occur. In spite of the flaws, some sloppy (Michael forgetting Max’s name slack in Season 1; using California foothill landscape for Original Mexico, etc.) and some deeper as mentioned above, the whole series hangs together and preserves its punch true through to raze, which is generally satisfying. Life is tough; it’s bitter sweet but it beats the heck out of the alternative. If you like the premise of “alien” teenagers and an in-depth exploration of the combination of romance/melodrama/s-f I would highly recommend this series. It handled all the elements imaginatively and almost always kept me caring about the characters. Not perfect but up there with Stargate, Gloomy Angel, etc. and better in terms of the deeper exploration of human interaction. That said, this is mighty less action/adventure oriented than Stargate etc. so if you want heavy location driven action expose this isn’t what you’re after.
Buy it and bask in the emotional rollercoaster and inventive sidelights. You sustain thinking it’s about to slump away down a rathole but it never does.
